The program till date has shown that community-based screening is an effective route of identifying subjects at risk of diabetes, kidney, and cardiovascular diseases very early on which allows for proven effective interventions and management of their condition. People in Nepal have a tendency not to seek regular medical attention for a variety of reasons, including loss of a day's earnings, a lack of disease understanding, and a widespread conviction that they are well if not for the readily evident symptoms. As a result, the majority of the people who visit medical facilities have advanced stages of NCDs, with acute and chronic complications. People with extremely high blood pressure, extremely high blood sugar, advanced CKD, and silent myocardial infarctions, heart failure were found during this community screening.
Since It is difficult to cure the patient being diagnosed at the later stages or patient developing complications, The team via various community programs in different wards of eastern Nepal has been conducting educational awareness program to lead the society with healthy habit, healthy lifestyle. One step at a time, multiple single steps to change the society perception. Slowly but persistently, Community needs a healthy mindset. The team run by slogans awaring the initial asymptomatic natural history of NCDs (Hypertension, Diabetes Mellitus, Dyslipidemia, Cardiovascular disease), progressing to the symptomatic stage and landing up into the complication. Various slogans and education understandable by everyone carry a huge weightage to create an impact upon an individual. We go with:
“मृगौलामुटु दाजु भाइ, एकको चोट अर्का लाइ, जरुरी छ प्राण लाइ, बचाई राखौं दुवैलाइ (Heart and Kidneys are like brothers; when one is hurt, the other gets injured, lets save the both.)”
“ABCDE जाचौं, मृगौला मुटु बचाऔं ( Check Your ABCDE; Save Kidneys, Save Heart)”
“एककदमअगाडी, रोगसारमपछडी”(Strenous exercise for minimum of 30 minutes for at least 5 days a week)
“Healthy Kidneys, Healthy Heart, made for each other”
